EN UYIR NEEDHAANE

Cast: Prabhu, Devayani, Maheswari, Koundamani, Senthil
Music: Deva
Direction: S.P.Rajakumar

A disappointing film from the director of Ponmanam, one of our favorite movies.

Prabhu plays a mill-owner with a son(he calls him 'thambi' *hint*). He arrives a murder scene and Devayani, who is from a middle-class family, identifies a locan bigwig as the murderer in the killing. She is consequently raped and her brother kicks her out of the house.

Prabhu makes her stay in his house and also gives her a job in his company. He reveals that his 'son' is actually his father's, borne out of an affair he had with his secretary and that he has not stepped foot in his father's house since then. He reveals his love for Devayani but she says 'no', feeling that it was more out of sympathy and that she does not deserve him.

Prabhu's athai ponnu also arrives from the States and Prabhu's mom requests Devayani(who is by now ready to accept Prabhu's proposal) to give him up and she does, asking Prabhu to wed Maheswari instead.

Meanwhile, her rapist acts as a reformed man wanting to marry her with the idea of making her take back her case and then killing her later. But Prabhu intervenes at the right time and all's well that ends well.

The role fits Prabhu well while Devayani looks sweet. Lots of laughs from Senthil and Koundamani. January Nilave... sounds good among Deva's songs.
