Here, in reverse order (best of the worst to worst of the worst) are the 10 least watchable tamil films of 2000.

Kannaal Pesavaa
Director Raj Khanna raised memories of Sollaamale with an admittedly surprising climax
involving a key body part. But the bland lead couple of Arunkumar and Suvalakshmi barely raised
interest in the boring love story and the climax itself was so shabbily handled that it seemed
preposterous rather than stunning.
9
Karisakkaattu Poove
Director Kasturi Raja made another formula film that started off well enough before descending
into an ugly mess with the incomprehensible and irritating behavior of the players, usual family
enmity and unnecessary deaths and bloody violence. Neither Vivek's comedy nor
Ilaiyaraja's music could alleviate our suffering from the rest of the movie.
8
Unnai Kodu Ennai Tharuven
The sheer stupidity of the logic in this movie overcame the positives like a charming
leading pair, a cute romance and a strong theme(love or patriotism?). The acts of
Sukanya and then Simran towards the end were so devoid of logic that they made us
wonder what the director was thinking when he made those decisions the key aspect of the
movie. The director also managed to make a mockery of the army barracks with the
goings-on there and the vulgar comedy track.
7
Magalirkkaaga
Even though this movie was set in an all-woman police station, that in no way reduced the
crudeness of the scenes as corrupt policemen and women went about tarnishing the already
low image of the police. Vadivelu was irritating in another comedy track that had him at
the mercy of 'Kovai' Sarala. The movie had some novelty towards the end by introducing
the Human Rights Commission as a solution.
6
Ilayavan
Satyaraj's nephew Satyan added to our woes by appearing as hero and easily beat out Hamsavirdhan
for the 'worst hero of the year' award. His face, physique and whiny voice sent us scurrying
for cover each time he appeared on screen. The story was regular and even a senior artiste like
Sivakumar had a thankless role. The flashback with Karan provided some much-needed relief.
5
Maanaseega Kaadhal
Ravichandran went one better than Bharatiraja by presenting his son Hamsavirdhan, who
seemed even less suited to be a hero than Manoj. But he was only one of the drawbacks
in the movie that featured an equally bad heroine, poor comedy and a climax straight out
of Kaadhalukku Mariyaadhai (my apologies to Fazil for the comparison!).
4
Kandhaa Kadamba Kathirvelaa
Rama.Narayanan's attempt to duplicate the success of his Tirupati Ezhumalai Venkatesa
ended in disaster with this completely unfunny tale of a domineering mother being tamed by
her son-in-law. The movie doesnt succeed in raising a single laugh throughout its entire
running time and and at many places, the loud and crude comedy was actually painful.
3
Unakkaaga Mattum
Chinni Jayanth's crime on our senses was two-fold as he directed this movie apart from once
again appearing as a college student, a role he hasn't been suitable for, for quite some time
now. Some ridiculous scenes were capped off by a climax that made the other actors look
stupid while trying to earn sympathy for Chinni Jayanth himself.
2
Aandavan
With an eye on Rajnikanth's desperate fans, an old Hindi movie(where he is not even the
principal character) was dubbed and released. But scenes where he did not appear were sliced
out, resulting in an incomprehensible collage of scenes starring him that should have driven
even his diehard fans out of the theater.

Nagalingam
Babu Ganesh took on several duties and got all of them wrong in this movie that makes
Rama.Narayanan's numerous Amman movies look like classics. The movie was supposed to make the
people in the theater smell the fragrance of what was being shown on screen but all the movie
raised was a complete stink as it incomprehensibly laid out its story. But to Babu Ganesh's
credit, the movie was funnier than many other attempted comedies though the laughs here were
unintentional!
